Overturning Roe vs. Wade
We have repeatedly seen the narrative the Republican Party has put out to eliminate a woman’s right to choose. Today, by a majority vote by the United States Supreme Court, that right has been taken away. The decision comes after the public release of the draft version of the SCOTUS opinion on Roe vs Wade, foreshadowing what was to be unraveled.
The disastrous results of the 2016 election predicted that we would inherit a packed conservative Supreme Court. The effects are being felt now, with more to come as fundamental human and civil rights are overturned. Our work at Rideshare2Vote is more critical than ever to move our country forward out of GOP extremism. We must work to set the nation right again to safeguard our Democracy.
Critical will be to double down on our efforts to reach out to voters who have been disfranchised from voting to elect Democrats at every level of government, from local, state, and federal. We need a Congress that will exercise its Constitutional right to expand the Supreme Court. It is imperative that we expand our majority in the House and Senate to enact national legislation on abortion rights, LGBTQ+ Rights, Voting Rights, Gun Violence Prevention, and basic Human and Civil Rights that are in jeopardy at the hands of the Republican-held Majority in the Supreme Court.
The days, weeks, and months ahead are no small challenge, but what is at stake is our Democracy.
