About Sarah
Sarah Kovich, M.Ed., a lifelong Texas Democrat, brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the world of politics. With a Master’s Degree in education and a successful 25-year career running her own consulting firm, Sarah has been recognized for her community building, communications skills, and political work.
In the late 90s, Sarah embarked on a crucial endeavor by establishing the first Political Advocacy Team for the Texas Mental Health Counselors Association. With laws posing a threat to the livelihood of Professional Counselors in Texas, Sarah took charge and played a pivotal role in safeguarding their interests.
In 2017, Sarah made the decision to devote her energy and passion full-time to democratic activism. Since then, she has been at the forefront of the Rideshare2Vote Organizations, including LLC, Aware, and PAC.
Sarah’s vision became a reality in 2018 when she founded Rideshare2Vote LLC as an all-volunteer initiative aimed at empowering non-voting Democrats to participate and engage. Today, Rideshare2Vote LLC has grown into a robust organization with a dedicated staff. It stands as the sole Democratic partisan Ride2Vote Program in the United States, operating year-round in local, state, special, run-off, and national elections.
Under Sarah’s leadership, the program expanded to include GetOutTheVote (GOTV) efforts, specifically targeting nonvoting registered Democrats. Through reminders, invitations, and transportation to the polls, Rideshare2Vote LLC has ensured that thousands of Democrats have reliable transportation, while also reaching out to nearly two million individuals to encourage their participation.
In 2020, Sarah established the Rideshare2Vote PAC, which has successfully raised over $2.5 million to support the voting programs of Rideshare2Vote LLC. The firm is now a full service, full cycle, GOTV enterprise.
Recognizing the need for grassroots organizations that focus on activities beyond rides to the polls, Sarah and a dedicated team founded Rideshare2Vote Aware as a 501c3 non-profit, non-partisan entity. Sarah’s leadership has been instrumental in the development of the only national ADA accessible wheelchair Ride2Vote Program in the United States. Additionally, she spearheaded the creation of the Aware paid internship program, which has grown from a class of four to now welcoming ten students each semester. Rideshare2Vote Aware has raised over half a million dollars under Sarah’s guidance, supporting unique programming, training, wheelchair rides, and the non-partisan Ride2Vote initiative.
Sarah’s unwavering commitment to democratic activism and her innovative approach to increasing voter engagement have made a profound impact on communities across the nation. Her visionary leadership has ensured that individuals, regardless of their circumstances, have the opportunity to exercise their democratic rights and make their voices heard.
About Paola
Paola Kovich, holding a B.A. in Critical Languages and International Studies, was born in Guatemala and arrived in the United States at the tender age of five months. Growing up in a household of strong women, starting with her grandmother and followed by her mother and aunt, Paola was raised in an environment that instilled resilience and determination. In 2006, her family welcomed a new baby sibling, expanding the Kovich family and solidifying the foundation upon which Paola’s upbringing was built.
As Paola pursued her academic path, she found herself immersed in a dual-credit high school program during a crucial period in Texas politics. It was in January 2018 that she embarked on a fellowship with Colin Allred, a candidate for TX CD32. This experience not only introduced her to the world of campaigning but also coincided with her initiation of work on her final capstone project.
Paola’s influence and passion were instrumental in encouraging Sarah to re-engage with politics at a deeper level, reminiscent of her own college years. Together, they rallied their friends and laid the foundation for what would become the first version of Rideshare2Vote.
In 2021, Paola successfully completed the Rideshare2Vote Aware Internship program. Today, she has returned to Rideshare2Vote and serves as the year round Dispatch Director. Paola, and her team of Volunteers, ensures that every voter who requests a ride is scheduled, dispatched, and provided with round-trip transportation to exercise their democratic right to vote.
